“The power of education extends beyond the development of skills we need for economic success. It can contribute to nation-building and reconciliation.” – Nelson Mandela
Kokstad College is recognised as the top school in our district with a well established reputation for educational excellence. At KC, we aim to instil a culture of lifelong love of learning through a holistic approach to education that reaches beyond the achievement of academic excellence to the development of the character of every learner.
Kokstad College believes in recognising hard work and perseverance. To do this, each term we acknowledge the three top academic performers in each grade. This group of learners is called “Club 15”. At the end of every year, the Club 15 learners are taken out and rewarded for their hard work throughout the year.
The school prefects are the school role models. Their roles in the school are diverse and range from assisting staff during assemblies to carrying out break and sport duties. Each prefect has to perform duties around the school to ensure we maintain the correct ethos.
The RCL is an official body representing all learners in secondary schools around the country. It is constituted in accordance with the SA Schools Act and is comprised of learners elected by their fellow learners to represent them.
The purpose of the RCL is to provide learners with an opportunity to participate in school governance and to participate in appropriate decision making.
